History

The School of Education of the University of Los Andes was created on September, 15th, 1969 by the National Council of Universities CNU and after the resolution of the University Council on September 17, 1959. The first graduating class was announced on August 8, 1963. At that time, the organizational structure of the School had 5 departments: Pedagogy and Didactics, Psychology, Statistics and Evaluation, Seminars and Philosophy. The first two specializations were the Bachelor's Degree in Educational Technology and the Bachelor's Degree in Administration.art student 3 1455268

The School of Education of the Faculty of Humanities and Education seeks to consolidate itself as a School of high academic and scientific level, with impact on the educational field and educational sciences. Likewise, its mission is to develop and stimulate scientific research and to assist in the production of knowledge in the educational area.

The School of Education awards undergraduate degrees in Education, majors: elementary school, nature and physics , modern languages, mathematics, preschool and physical education, sports, and recreation. Structure

Nowadays, the School of Education is composed of 7 departments: Pedagogy and Didactics, Measurement and Evaluation, Preschool, Physical Education, Educational Administration, Psychology and Orientation, and Philosophy.


 

Research 

Closely related to its mission, the School of Education has centers and research groups that fulfill important academic tasks of teaching and research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Examples of the different research groups are Evaluación educacional, Enseñanza a la matemática en la Educación Superior (GIEMES) and Innovación Educativa. It is also important to note the work of the Centro de Ciencias Aplicadas al Deporte which is coordinated by the Department of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation.
