History

The School of Humanities of the Faculty of Law was elevated to the rank of Faculty in 1958. The section of Letters that constituted it, became the School of Letters, the second one in our country. This initiative was taken by Prof. Carlos César Rodríguez, who was the first Dean of our faculty and who sought to restore the humanist tradition of the University of Los Andes.

The School of Letters aims to promote, disseminate and safeguard the imperishable contributions of the humanistic tradition and to incorporate those that arise in correspondence with the signs of contemporary culture.

The University of Los Andes through the School of Letters confers the degree in Letters in different majors. For further information please refer to Study programs
