History

The School of Modern Languages of the Faculty of Humanities and Education at ULA began its activities on November 1, 1998, and the curriculum of the Bachelor's Degree in Modern Languages was borrowed from the Bachelor's Degree in Language and Modern Literature of the School of Education. 

The task of the School of Modern Languages is to cooperate with the transformation of Venezuela through the training of professionals with linguistic knowledge and cultural-related skills in at least two modern foreign languages. The School of Modern Languages works intensively in order to contribute to spread the languages and cultures and to establish an effective communication between Venezuela and other nations.

The School of Modern Languages awards the undergraduate degree in Modern Languages and it also offers postgraduate studies. For further information, please refer to Study programs


Structure

Currently, the School of Modern Languages of the Faculty of Humanities and Education comprises 5 departments: English, French, Italian, Foreign Languages and Applied Foreign Languages.


Research

The School of Modern Languages is assisted by the Centro de Investigaciones en Lenguas Extranjeras and the Research Group on Literaturaturas en el Mundo (in Spanish, G.I.L.I.M) in its contribution to the key tasks of teaching and research. For further information, please refer to Research
